Dental Implants Corpus Christi

Are you missing a tooth or a number of teeth, leaving you with compromised chewing and speaking abilities and feeling embarrassed to smile? A number of treatments are available to restore the look and function of missing teeth, but none offer quite as many benefits as dental plants.

In addition to a comprehensive range of general and cosmetic dentistry services, Drs. Nicholas Perry Orchard and Alejandro Vilamil provide dental implants to patients residing in Corpus Christi and surrounding communities. During your initial consultation at our office, you can learn more about implant dentistry and whether you are a suitable candidate for dental implant treatment. What Are Dental Implants?

Graphic of an implant-supported bridgeThe superior stability and durability offered by dental implants are due to the fact that the surgically embedded titanium posts fuse with the jawbone. Drs. Orchard and Vilamil work closely with trusted oral surgeons and can refer patients to a network of reputable specialists in the Corpus Christi area for the placement of their implants. You will return to our office to complete your dental implant procedure.

After these posts have completely integrated with the natural bone (a process known as osseointegration) and healing is complete, roughly three to six months post-surgery, a natural-looking restoration will be placed atop the post. This restoration is most commonly  a porcelain dental crown that will blend seamlessly with your surrounding teeth. Our in-office milling technology, CEREC®, allows us to exercise a large amount of control over the creation of our crowns, ensuring that our prosthetics not only look natural, but feel natural as well.

Benefits of Dental Implants

The strength, durability, natural feel, and aesthetic appeal of dental implants make them an excellent choice for restoring missing teeth. Once they have been placed and healing is complete, dental implants should be cared for in the same way you would a natural tooth. With proper oral hygiene and regularly scheduled dental appointments, dental implants can last for decades.

Dental implants not only restore function and confidence in your smile, but also protect the rest of your existing teeth and improve your oral health. Left untreated, missing teeth have a detrimental effect on the jawbone and adjacent teeth. Teeth naturally stimulate the growth of the jawbone, and after a tooth falls out or is extracted, the body assumes this bone is no longer needed and gradually begins to reabsorb it. Dental implants greatly improve oral health, preserve jawbone, and guard against the movement of loosening of surrounding, healthy teeth.
